Meet Mrs. Faulkner

Hello and welcome!

My name is Arlene Faulkner, and I’m thrilled to be a Malabar Bear 1st Grade teacher. With over 24 years of teaching experience, I bring a deep love for education and a strong commitment to helping every student grow and succeed.

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, and I’m proud to now serve the same community that shaped me. I earned my degree from Cal State Long Beach and completed my teaching credential at Cal State LA.

Outside of the classroom, I’m a wife and mom to two amazing teenage kids. Our family keeps busy with school activities, sports, and enjoying time together.

Teaching young learners is truly my passion. I love creating a warm, welcoming classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Building strong relationships with students and families is at the heart of everything I do.

Service project — 1st Grade Community Outreach Service Project Our wonderful 1st graders completed a service project. They created placemats for recipients of Meals on Wheels. I had the pleasure of delivering the placemats to a few of the seniors. They were so happy to see the beautiful placemats and thankful for the kind gesture.

Eco Van Science — The Eco Van Hands-on Science program visited Room 20 students. Students engaged in hands-on learning with light and shadows!

Students explore light and shadows with Art and math. — Exploring Light and Shadows with Chalk.

Students use a light source, something to block the light, and a surface to create shadows.

Students engage in interdisciplinary learning using lines of communication to share math thinking about measuring shadows
