STEAM
Malabar's talented VEX Robotics Team
STEAM
Our team, the Robo Raptors, is currently ranked 8th in the Local District East League. Go Malabar!
Salt Dough Art
STEAM
4th and 5th graders in Ms. Reyes's classroom created their own modeling clay called Salt Dough and used it to build Landform models.
Engineering Rocket Launchers
STEAM
3rd grade students in Mrs. Colon's class designed and tested their Force machines to launch rockets.
Balance and Symmetry
STEAM
Sumerian Cuneiform
STEAM
Students use Clay Art techniques in Mr. Spilman's 6th grade classroom to create Sumerian Cuneiform script, the world's oldest writing system who's origin traces back to Mesopotamia (now Iraq) in 8,000 BC.
VEX Robotics
STEAM
Students in Mr. Corona's and Mr. Hiroto's Robotics Club work together to design and build a complex robotic system of parts and gears to compete in the LAUSD EAST ROBOTICS LEAGUE.
Force and Motion
STEAM
It is the excitement of hands-on learning that has Mrs. Colon's and Mrs. Caldera-Martin's 1st grade students on their feet.
Pendulums
STEAM
Students in Ms. Hernandez's 3rd grade classroom are creating Pendulums to demonstrate gravity's effect on everyday objects.

Malabar's TEACHERS have made a commitment to elevate our community and our students' learning by adopting STEAM. Here you see us connected in our Vision to see Malabar become LAUSD STEAM CERTIFIED.

STEAM
4th grade creates electrical circuits while learning about the Engineering Design Process.
Student Presentation
STEAM
Students present their investigation findings using the Scientific Process.
Traveling Water/Color Mixing
STEAM
Kindergartners in Ms. Roselyn Marquez's classroom learn how absorption and gravity combine to move water from cup to cup and create a color mixture.
Venus Flytrap
STEAM
This is a closeup of the carnivorous Venus Flytrap in Mrs. Faulkner's 1st Grade classroom. It's design demonstrates how plants adapt to their environment for survival.
Presentation Skills
STEAM
1st grade students present their investigation findings in Ms. Cazares's 6th grade classroom.
Scientific Observation
STEAM
Ms. Limon's 1st grade students are practicing the Scientific Method as keen observers of Malabar's natural spaces.
Chemical Weathering
STEAM
Mr. Spilman's 6th graders are learning that water can have a devastating effect on rocks and building materials.
