About the Teacher

Hello!

My name is Alma Marquez, and I am a proud 2nd grade Malabar Bear teacher! I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal Poly Pomona and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State Los Angeles. Over the course of 29 years, I have served students in first through sixth grade. I have continued to grow professionally by taking on roles such as reading literacy coach, reading intervention teacher, and reading intervention coordinator. Currently, I take pride in being part of the USC Bots Alumni Program and the Gifted Program Cohort.

For me, learning is rooted in the belief that all students are capable of reaching their goals when provided with a safe and supportive environment that honors their individual needs. In today’s world, it is imperative for students to sustain learning while engaging in cognitively demanding tasks where they can draw their own conclusions, learn through investigations and experiences, collaborate, discuss, and lead their own learning. Learning is FUN!
